A cell phone like a second brain
where symptoms are alleviated every day.

Symptoms of sickness
Of hunger
Of pain
Of love

An emptiness like an all-consuming fog
where images and words suffocate.

Stupid to think we are immune
Untouchable
Isolated
Safe

An assumption that we are safe like a child tucked in
while the house burns around them.
