How I Found:  Once in a great while, I'll buy a book on my phone.  I'm still a pen and paper kind of gal, but here I am in the digital world, so I let it go once  in awhile.  I've loved Barbara Kingsolver since before smart phones existed though (yes, there was a time), and I fondly remember reading Prodigal Summer while waiting in a grain truck for another load of wheat to take to the elevator.  So, in need of a new read, I searched Kingsolver to see what she had been up to and low and behold I found a lost friend.  The story begins in Mexico and travels back and forth to the U.S. with the narrator whom I instantly loved, but suddenly he was living with the dove and the elephant, and I just about lost my mind.  From there on, I hung on to every one of Kingsolver's words--literally, as I actually purchased the book on Audible, and she was the reader.  Wow.  Just wow.  Not only did she paint a picture worthy of these two  iconic artists, but she captured their voices without letting these two personalities overwhelm the story which continues heart-wrenchingly beautiful to the end where it began.
Why You Might Read:  Well, listen, in this case.  Honestly, if you don't have Audible your first book is free and Kingsolver is a masterful storyteller and reader.  Give it a whirl.  You can go back to lovingly turning pages for your next book.

Tell Me:  Have you read this book?  What did you think?

I am a reader who was brought to the world of books by being read to as a child, a wonderful librarian, scores of dedicated teachers, and the friends who still talk to me about books.  This page is dedicated to all readers as a way to help you find books for you and yours as they were found by me. Let their pages turn your life into a world of magic, reality, and possibility.
