Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood

Picture
How I Found:  Margaret Atwood is a long-time favorite, so I circle around her books like a crow ravenously picking at prey when I have the time to devour one.  In typical Atwood fashion she takes a real-life story, in this case of the Canadian Murderess, Grace Marks, and creates a story intertwined with the fantastic of the times like hypnotism and psychiatric asylums to entice the reader into believing Grace's story even though she herself gave three different confessions.
Why You Might Read:  If you like a murder-mystery, here's a real one based on the surviving primary sources and although the truth of Grace's innocence or not is buried with her, you'll enjoy picking through the remains of a life that defied her times whether she is guilty or not.  After all, "The small details of life often hide a great significance."
Tell Me:  Have you read this book?  What did you think?

I am a reader who was brought to the world of books by being read to as a child, a wonderful librarian, scores of dedicated teachers, and the friends who still talk to me about books.  This page is dedicated to all readers as a way to help you find books for you and yours as they were found by me. Let their pages turn your life into a world of magic, reality, and possibility.
